Break! YAY!!

So a break is finally coming! It will be a nice fuel for these finals coming up, I hope you all have a great holiday and enjoy the company of your family and loved ones. Be thankful for the things you have and the things you don’t, remember "live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each" (Henry David Thoreau). Sometimes going back home for the holidays is the best vacation ever! Sometimes it's not, but do make the best of it wherever you are and whatever you do, take a moment to appreciate those things that you are thankful for in life. Stay safe out there and power up to kick the end of the semester!

Hang in there!

Hey there! Good Monday to all!
So guys it’s almost over! Couple more weeks and the semester is gone. Funny to think how it was just yesterday when we were waking up from summer vacation and sobbing about the start of a new fall semester and now in a blink of an eye is coming to an end. I’ll be starting my 8th semester pretty soon and it’s kinda hard to see how fast time passes by!  Just a while ago (while working hard in the office, of course,) my fellow ambassadors and I were having a conversation about when we first started college. I could not help but to think about how much I have learned over these past few years, my time here at NMSU has been more than great, I’ve loved every second of it and I would not change it for anything. I probably sound like a cheesy sales person every time I give a tour and talk about the million reasons why I love NMSU (lol) but it’s true! All of my professors have been great; they have been extremely motivating and yearn for our success, literally. The faculty has been great, the friends I have made are those to be kept for a lifetime and the many experiences (good or bad) have been to die for!
The one thing most important thing that I have learned thus far is that NEVER let anybody tell you “you can’t do it”   keep this in mind now as you tackle those finals, give it your ALL and fight for what YOU want, forget about the others, forget about what anybody else can do, forget about how much better anyone else is doing in the class, forget about how smart everyone else is and think about what YOU can accomplish. Remember, “it’s not the person you are that holds you back, it’s the person you think you’re not that does.”  We’re all getting closer to our goal so just hang on tight it will be absolutely worth it in the end! I’ll leave you with a couple of words I live by and that always pump me up when going through a stressful time (such as finals!!!)
                                                                                                                            -Your girl Jess! =)
Love yourself.
Make peace with who you are
and where you are at this moment in time.

Listen to your heart.
If you can’t hear what it’s saying in this noisy world,
make time for yourself. Enjoy your own company.
Let your mind wander among the stars.

Try. Take chances. Make mistakes.
Life can be messy and confusing, but it’s also full of surprises.
The next rock in your path may be a stepping stone.

Be happy. When you don’t have what you want,
want what you have. Make do.
That’s a well-kept secret of contentment.

There aren’t any shortcuts to tomorrow.
You have to make your own day.
To know where you’re going is only part of it.
You need to know where you’ve been too.
And if you get lost, don’t worry.
The people who love you will find you.
Count on it.

Life isn’t days and years.
It’s what you do with time
and with all the goodness and grace
that’s inside of you.
Make a beautiful life…
The kind of life you deserve.

Nothin’ But Net and Hardwood Floors

Alright Aggies, soon college football will be over which means a new season is about to start…Yep Basketball season is just around the corner. Now I’m not usually a big fan of Basketball, but this year the Aggies are taking on the University of Arizona’s beloved Wildcats. Therefore this has caught my special attention…You see I just happen to be from Arizona and refused the chance to go to school there. So you may be wondering where I’m going with today’s blog…Well rivals can be made over numerous years such as our rivalries with UNM and UTEP, but some can surface in a matter of moments. In exactly a week the Aggies will take on the Wildcats and with all the smack that has been spoken over Facebook with my friends going to school at UofA  I am looking for us to beat them. This Aggie vs. Wildcat game is my college rivalry basketball game that I have been looking for all my life. For the first time in my life I am excited about a game. And I CANNOT wait to hear all the people in Arizona to be amazed. GO AGGIES SHOOT UP THEM KITTIES!!!! :D

Catching the Right Lead

So fellow Aggies I do believe it’s time to tell you all a little bit about one of my classes as an Animal Science major…On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I have had the opportunity to take a breaking and training class for the Equine portion of my requirements. To put this in easier terms, basically I get to train a young horse down at the NMSU Horse Farm. I know, I know, sounds pretty exciting. Well it definitely has been one of best classes this semester, but there are certain things when working with young horses I have discovered, if they get tired and aggravated you will also soon after. If they have their own idea of what they should be doing they will try at all costs to fight you till you give in or give up. And then here’s the kicker the easiest of motions, such as being on the correct lead (or the correct foot) when loping in a circle, can often turn into such a tiring battle there is no turning back to being in a good mood after. My horse Bruce has worked so well in getting on the correct leads the past few weeks, but for some reason this week he has no idea what I am asking for…can you guess what foot were having trouble getting into sync with the rest? You guessed it… the RIGHT! However, as I look at this small set back I can relate to how he might be having trouble. When we stumble it’s hard to get back on track with how we should be going, it takes some time to get up and get back in the swing of things. I’m not saying that we won’t ever get back on the correct lead let alone the right lead. I still may be aggravated with Bruce right now, but at some point something will click and he’ll realize that once he hits that right lead things will be all downhill from there. So my final thoughts that I will leave you with today will be…If you stumble, don’t stay in the slump it puts you in, it will be far easier to try and get back on track.

Aggie Girl Hannah

Just a Two-Steppin Along

A nice two-step might start out the night. Pretty soon we’re half-stepping and the rhythm’s right. A line dance and the Cotton Eye Joe, I spin you around and here we go!!!!! HEEEELLLLLOOOO AGGIES!!!!!! Alright I’m feeling in a pretty upbeat mood on this late afternoon, and you’re probably wondering what started off this blog in the first place. Well, the first few lines were actually a part of one of my favorite songs “Good Night For Dancing” by The Josh Abbott Band. Now the whole reason I started this blog with these lyrics is because I just CANNOT wait for Friday night to come, because my roommate and I are planning a trip down to the West Texas Dallas Nights down in El Paso. You may be asking why we’re not hitting up some of the clubs down there instead of the country dancing saloon. To answer that question simply is that I grew up two-stepping and swing dancing and when I got over here I got my roommate hooked on it too. The whole reason I bring this little trip up today is because, when you’re going to school you have to make sure to let off some steam whether it is going to the movies, going bowling, or yes even going dancing. Enjoy the little trips you can take with friends, because you have to remember in the words of Crawl from the movie Son-In-Law “This is college. These are the best years of our lives!” So think about what you may do this weekend because it's ALWAYS a good night for dancing!

Awesome Autumn Days

AAAANNNNDDDD It’s another beautiful day in Aggie Country!!!!! As all of us Aggies on campus are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the coming break just over the horizon. This means soon enough we all will have some times for ourselves to go home, see family and friends, and just have some time to rest in order to finish out the semester strong.
Some of us more than others are feeling the pressures of the semester hitting their peaks, but no worries in about 3 weeks this semester will be heading out the door while a new slate is about to present itself. The end of this week marks the start of Spring 2011 registrations, therefore allowing all of us to start something fun and new (and something’s not so fun). But just remember as you’re planning your schedule for next semester get as much of your required classes out of the way, but also remember that you need to enjoy yourself as well. Don’t stress yourself out by only taking the hard stuff to get it out of the way, take something just for you; Something to help you unwind and relax, because those are the classes that make getting your education worthwhile.
So on these crisp Autumn nights take a breath and enjoy the early sunsets it will make things that much more enjoyable the rest of the semester. This is Aggie Girl Hannah back for another week of Blogging. J

From West Texas...

I'm from Texas.Well technically the Edge of Texas (El Paso), but Texas none the less.I'm a True Blue Dallas Cowboy fan. So You will probably see me wearing my colors on campus win or lose. You can take the Cowboy out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the Cowboy ;)

You meet alot of new faces up here at NMSU. Everybody on campus gets into the pageantry of sports.

You will see Professors, Faculty and Students wearing the colors of their favorite NFL football teams and NBA basketball teams. Everybody gives each other hell about the teams they support, but it's all in good fun.

Come NMSU game day, everybody gets ready for the big game. During homecoming, the campus was united together as one.I have never been a part of something so big and grand. In the end It doesn't matter about winning but the people all around you.

It brings together the kids living on campus. You can watch a game alongside someone from New York or California. It isn't about whether your team wins or looses (I mean it does lol) because after it is over you have made a new connection.

I will admit this, I know this year the Cowboys are sucking. I will stick by my team through the worst of storms.  At the end of the day, being perfect isn't about scores but about your relationship with the people around you

Here is a quote I live by..

"Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It's not about winning. It's about you and your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didnt let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasnt one more thing you could've done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman - you're perfect!"

Clear eyes.Full Hearts,Can't lose!

You ever feel cursed. Like, no matter what, inside your heart you feel that you're gonna lose. Like something's hanging over you, following you like a witch or a demon. Even when things are going good. When we're winnin', it's there. And when we're losin', it's there.

It took me a long time to realize that there ain't much difference between winning and losing, except for how the outside world treats you. But inside you, it's about all the same. It really is. Fact of the matter is, I believe that our only curses are the ones that are self-imposed. You know what I'm sayin'? We, all of us, dig our own holes.

Look up to the Sky Above.Walk down on the Field below.Dream big. Play Big

You have all the Right Moves ;)
