Feel Good Friday!

Isn't it a little strange when you wake up Friday morning and are beaming with happiness? Food tastes a little better, the songs on the radio are a lot easier to sing, and even though you got cut off six times on your drive into work, your'e still upbeat!!!!! The reason is quite simple: IT IS FRIDAY!!!!! I am quite convinced that each Friday we wake up with some extra endorphines that are preparing us for the freedom of the weekend. Most of us spent nearly 40 hours in an office, classroom, or out in the elements working hard, but no worries you are six hours away from the luxurious weekend. So finish off today strong my fellow Aggies and spend some time relaxing and enjoying life during your brief but much needed break!

Something different can make all the difference!

On my drive into work this morning, I was flipping through the local radio stations here in Las Cruces. On one of the stations, they were playing the new song "Moment 4 Life," and the lyrics "cause everybody dies, but not everybody lives" hit me like a freight train. You see, I love the idea of spontaneity and finding new experiences in my routine, but after hearing this song I realized I wasn't being true to spontaneity AT ALL!!!
I have a day planner full of events, assignments for school, bills that are due, and even scheduled times to rest! My days and weeks are planned out by the hour! So I have to ask myself, where exactly does my need for impulsiveness fit in to the schedule?  How can we experience life to the fullest and enjoy the world around us if we do the same thing every day? So am I really living my life to its greatest potential, or am I just going through the notions of life?  When I'm 30,40,50, or even 60, I don't want to look back on my life and think "what if", so starting today I am making some life changes!!! Here are a few ideas to help rekickstart my journey back to living a little more spontaneously: On a weekly level
1.) Try a new restaurant once a week
2.) Instead of going the gym for spin class, ride my bike to a new place
3.) Create a new playlist on my Ipod, full of music I don't know

                                                                            On a monthly level
1.) Drive to a place in New Mexico that I've never been to
2.)Go to a concert or local event that I've never been

                                                                          On a yearly level
1.) Go to the airport, go to the ticket counter, ask to buy the cheapest round ticket ticket they have, and fly to whatever city and state that may be, and make the most of the trip!!!!

In closing,  "living" doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of money just to gain experiences of life, it just means breaking out of the comfort shell and trying new things. Some of the most memorable events in your life can be those that were not planned! So join me on finding new experiences and living our lives to the greatest potential! Any suggestions followers?

Mmmm Doughnuts and Other Things

This morning when I got up I really didn’t want to have the hassle of making breakfast, so I figured I’d pick something up on my way to work. Now you may just be thinking that I drove through McDonalds or something like, BUT…I did not rather I went to this little hole in the wall called Bosa’s. This place is amazing they have burritos, they have menudo, and of course my favorite really really good doughnuts. So as I was thinking about my favorite little doughnut place this morning and what I was going to get, I also thought about today’s blog. If you’re at NMSU for school and you’re living here make the most of it try all the different restaurants and things to take advantage of. Cruces is a great place to explore and have fun in…SO here’s

Snow Happens

In light of the recent storm events this past week, I’ve noticed a major difference in professors around the campus. On Monday my Animal Metabolism professor seemed panicked and told us that because of our little break we were behind in the syllabus and we would have to hurry through to get caught up. All of us sighed and rolled our eyes, thinking we’re only two days behind…Not a big deal. She obviously thought it was. Now as for other professors they don’t seem to mind…Like my Meat Technology teacher. According to the syllabus we were suppose to have an Exam on Tuesday when I asked if that would still happen he looked at me and asked, “We were suppose to have an exam?” He informed the class later on that the syllabus was etched in stone like the 10 Commandments, and would not change unless an act of God was to come down upon us. When a girl panicked and got her notes out to study he asked her “What is a snow storm?” She sighed with relief and replied “An Act of God.”  Needless to say our test for that class is being pushed back to next week. So this is what I’ve learned this week younger professors need to take note from the more ripened ones and enjoy the little things in life, because you never know when an Act of God is gonna hit. Chilled Dreams and Cold Winter Days

It’s cold winter days like today when I look back on the dreams I had when I was little and smile. When I was in Elementary school there were so many things I wanted to do I wanted to be an Olympic swimmer, a teacher, a professional barrel racer, and last but not least…I wanted to be a Meteorologist. Now at that time I woke up and ran into the living room just to watch the weather report, I went to school where we were studying clouds and weather currents, and Twister was my favorite movie! There was just something about weather that infatuated me and I wanted to be one of those crazy people who followed it. As I got older there was more and more pressure on me to figure out some sort of path to work toward (something that was actually realistic). So obviously the professional barrel racer and Olympic swimmer were kind of out of my reach, but becoming a teacher is pretty obtainable…BUT I discovered that becoming a teacher wasn’t really what I wanted either. Now as many of us know many dreams become lost in time only to be forgotten. When I got out of high school I had this dream of becoming a track vet for racehorses, well life threw me some curve balls and I discovered that studying veterinary medicine wasn’t really what I wanted to get into either. However, getting into the racetrack industry was something I was truly passionate about and interested in. You may be reading this thinking that I’m jumping from one topic to another, but I swear there is a point to this blog entry. The 6th Annual Career Connections event is being held at the Las Cruces Convention Center through tomorrow February 2nd. No matter if you are an lower classman or you’re about to graduate it’s worth it to attend these professional employment events to maybe find out what you want to do with the rest of your life or even just to see what’s out there waiting for you! The career I choose will have to be something I’m interested in, but it also will have to be obtainable. To this day I’m still obsessed with meteorology and how weather patterns work, but the path I’m going down fits more of who I am as a person. So here’s your NMSU weather report for the rest of the week… There’s a 30% chance of precipitation either in the form of rain or snow the rest of tonight with a low of 18o. Tomorrow there’s a prediction of Snow Flurries throughout the day the high getting to about 25o and a low of 5o tomorrow night. Through the weekend expect sunny skies and warmer temperatures after the clouds move out early Thursday. So in closing find something you’re passionate about, but never forget those little kid dreams… AND also be sure to bundle up the rest of the week. J
