Modern Day Cowboy pt.2

....I find my baby waiting for me at the same place I had put her to pasture. I check my pockets and find that I have few dollars in my pocket, which is enough. I mount my steel hellion. Connect my ipod up to the stereo and choose the playlist marked ‘METAL WARRIOR’. I turn up the Judas Priest and head out the gate.
I head down the highway with the rock turned up to AWESOME! I always have my buddies Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, ACDC, Ted Nugent and Bob Seger by my side keepin’ me awake. I pull over to the local corner market to get some liquid tonic before I keep on going down the open road. While other kids my age are somewhere in a lecture hall or writing class, I’m chatting it up with some truckers at the corner market.
I drive all day just to get back home, down to Texas. I am cautious not to run into any of my bounty hunters or old flames.  I loot the local markets and check out the local girls at the edge of Texas before the sun starts to fade away. I get back on my steel hellion and head back on the highway.
As the wheel in the sky fades away, I drive up to a highway diner. I order a burger with all the fixings and fries. I am surrounded by other weary travelers. I pull out a chair and sit at a table near a window. I look out to the highway.  Sometimes when you’re alone all you do is think. The stars start to pop out across the black of night.
I can see my steel horse resting nearby. I don’t know where I’m going only God knows where I’ve been. I’m a young gun, a candle in the wind, a modern day cowboy. I’m a cowboy on a steel horse I ride. I’m wanted Dead or Alive.

Modern Day Cowboy

I wake up in the morning and I raise my weary head. I feel like I’ve got an old coat for a pillow and the earth was last night’s bed.  The sun starts to peak through the dorm curtains. I’m a guy who likes to start workin’ in the early mornin’. I’ve got to get a move on if I want to make it to my destination by nightfall.
I get out of my bed and check an open box of pop tarts; it looks like I have a package left un-open. I fix me a cold breakfast of pop-tarts and a cup of OJ (the same breakfast I have been eatin’ for months). As I devour the meek scraps of my breakfast I try to remember the last time I had a warm breakfast with all the fixings’. I recon I may stop by the local diner sometime soon if I make it out of this week alive.
I throw some water on my face. I put on some beat up jeans and boots. I pull out a Dallas Cowboys shirt from my unpacked bag. I like to keep myself ready to depart camp at anytime. I’m a Texan, a Texas boy born and raised. I rode up here and setup my camp here in New Mexico because I am a devil on the run.
I pack a sack with things I will need for the day. I leave my camp and walk out to the University campus. The small town of New Mexico State University is already booming with life. I am surrounded by new faces. Citizens and towns folks who will not judge me for the crimes I had committed.  The people up here are kind and helpful. I take a walk down to one of my classes.
The Wheel in the sky burns bright. There ain’t any cloud out beyond the blue sky. I start to forget about walking to class and decide to head out to the highway. I start to walk back up to my camp where my steel horse awaits, my dark charcoal colored steel horse...

Senioritis

Are you having trouble concentrating in your classes?

Do you seem too relaxed?

Have your study habits changed?

Do u wait til there are 2 hours left before an assignment is due to do the assignment or take a quiz?

Do you find yourself winging it in class?

Do you show up to class without your backpack & textbook?

Do you find yourself taking extended lunch breaks? (that last til' 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm)

Do you find yourself taking off to lunch early? (so your lunch is actually from 11:00 pm to 2:00pm)

Do you find yourself starting your weekend on a Thursday?

Are you already planning out your Spring Break? (as opposed to mid-exams & research papers)

Do you find yourself more on the Road with the Rock tunes on ...than lets say in class listenin' to a professor?

Does the girl in row 1 seat 2 of your lecture hall catch your attention more than the power point slides on the screen?

Are you living like there is no Tomorrow?

If you have experienced any of these symptoms or are currently experiencing  these symptoms this semester. Then you are one of the many of millions of students  who have contracted  Senioritis

Main symptoms of Senioritis include procrastination , lack of motivation, a drop in academic performance, and "coasting", which is the act of going through classes with very little concentration or application of intent along with truancy. This often happens in the last year of high school , college or even graduate school.

If you are currently experiencing Senioritis or know someone who has Senioritis please seek help.
A decrease in academic performance due to senioritis may also create difficulties...

So if some you love has Senioritis just let them enjoy themselves because we are only young once right? Heck, why don't you just join them...You never know how much fun you could have if you just enjoy yourself

But remember as long as you pass your classes is Senioritis permitted

Call your doctor or Kris if you are experiencing Senioritis @ 1-800-IHAVESENIORITIS

Remember living with Senioritis can be fun

Aliens will come to eat your couch as you sleep!?!?

こんにちは!
Hello Everyone! It is Thursday and I couldn't be more excited for the weekend. Yes, I know we only had a four day work week, but I cannot wait to get back to that "winter break'esque" mood the weekend brings! I can't really be blamed for not being completely ready to jump back into school and work; after all, it's only been a week. But it will happen. You can't rush it.

So yesterday, I was with a few friends just "studying" when the topic of aliens randomly came up. We talked a little about it, but then realized the overwhelming possibility of alien beings existing in the universe. The question is, are they really what we think they are? Do the fly around at light-speed in their saucer-shaped aircraft's? And have they actually visited us before? Who knows.... I'm always really suspicious of the government, but still not convinced that all the "sightings" over the years are legit. I guess I need some solidified evidence to really believe alien aircraft's have visited our planet.

I always think that I'm part of the lucky generation that will be here when the aliens attack us. I just know it. And if not the aliens, it'll be North Korea.

But getting away from this strange topic, I realize that sleep is possibly the most important thing in my life right now. I know it's pretty sad, but it's true.

OH, so I really wanted to talk about this today and I just remembered. Has anyone seen that show called Strange Addictions? Well I was watching it yesterday and there was this woman who was addicted to eating couch cushion! She would literally cut off pieces of her couch, put in her purse, and snack on it all day. She had been doing this for 25 years! Now I don't mean to make fun of her or anything, but you're kinda putting yourself out there when you decide to go on national television with something weird like that. At the end of the show it said she was admitted to the hospital for extreme stomach pains, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest bit.

Well I'm pretty sure after that, there really isn't much more to say. So get some sleep, keep your eyes pealed for UFOs, and avoid eating your sofa.

Mmmmm..........Sacralicious!

It's that time again! Spring semester! Ya and it's also 2011, so that means we have only 1 year left before we all die! I'm just kidding! Who decided we were going to die anyway! The Mayans!? What do they know, they all dead anyway, so that should tell you something...

But that's off the subject. So classes started earlier this week, but more importantly, Financial Aid kicked in! I'm pretty much rollin' in the Benjamin's....for now at least. And I tend to spend nearly every penny of it on food and recreation! As you can tell, I am truly learning responsibility and appropriate decision making!

Classes are going to be very challenging it seems. I have to take another accounting class, YET AGAIN. And this time, the professor decided to use the Socratic Method of learning by targeting me to answer every question he had. Somehow, I always find myself in the wrong seat of the classroom; the one that always catches the profs eye when asking questions. So lets hope I will resolve that by sitting near the back next week.

Since I'm sure everyone has made their New Years Resolutions and are STICKING TO THEM, we can all hope for a better year. For me, this year involves a 6 month trip to Japan, and 21st birthday (.....in Japan) and tons of work to make money to do the previous two activities. For me, the most exciting thing will be watching that crazy Japanese television and being able to conveniently speak with people in Japanese. When I try to speak Japanese in the office, people make strange faces and Jessica starts calling me names.

Getting completely off the topic again, the office is very different these days. Two of my favorite people left the office and it is very sad working without them.

However, I can always count on my other coworkers to make work interesting.

And there you have it. A very sporadic, meaningless blog.

New Years and Paperwork

A New Year…For some it means that it’s a new start, a chance for change in their lives. For others they look at it as just another year to come and go. How you look at it really just depends on where you are in life and what may be going on at that time. For all of us at NMSU a New Year means that we have to get our FAFSA in, scholarship applications in, and get acclimated to our spring semester schedules. Kind of mind-boggling really, how much we do as college students. There is so much to do in such small amounts of time if you’re coming to the end of your college career you have to not only think about what you are going to do next but you also have to apply for graduation in order to get to THAT point. So many applications, so many transcript finalizations, and so much planning ahead…Now I’m not trying to scare you, but seriously when it comes to the start of a New Year no wonder why we all like the fall semesters so much better, there’s a lot less paperwork haha. So as we enter the New Year remember to get all those applications done so your year goes a lot smoother, and remember to go into your spring semester with a positive attitude…It will be worth it as you keep moving on.

Always,
